Garbage and Recycling

Garbage and recyclables are collected weekly in Kanata by separate firms coordinated by the City of Ottawa.

Garbage is picked up at the end of your driveway. Put out garbage and blue or black box only after 7:00 p.m. the evening prior to pickup. If you will be away, arrange for a neighbour to put your garbage out and remove empty containers after collection.

Make sure your yard waste is correctly bagged or bundled. Put it out according to the City’s seasonal collection schedule, on specified black-box days. Pack all recyclables in their containers, and securely tie or weight them down to prevent them from coming loose and blowing around the property.

Remove your empty containers from the front of your unit as soon as you can on the day of garbage collection.
